My Teaching Approach – personalized to each student’s needs, abilities, and goals
My style is highly personalized and team-oriented. I work closely with each student to identify their strengths and learning styles, anticipate challenges, and develop strategies for long-term success. Lessons are tailored not only to raise grades, but also to build analytical skills, encourage curiosity, and empower students to ask questions and verbalize their understanding. Parents can feel assured that my focus is on lasting growth, independence, and confidence.
My Focus – the ‘why’ & staying ahead
Anxiety and fear are minimized by confidence, which is the area I like to concentrate on with students — confidence both in the material and personally. Many good students do their homework diligently, step-by-step, without truly grasping the fundamental concepts (the ‘why’) behind what they are doing. When variations occur on a test, they are thrown a curve ball that they aren’t prepared to overcome. In my extensive experience, understanding ‘the why’ is one of the keys to flourishing in mathematics, whether it’s by grades, testing, or future college success.
I also like to focus on the idea of ‘staying ahead’ of the class since the ‘falling behind’ feeling adds angst and takes away from the satisfaction and sense of hard-won accomplishment that mathematics can bring.
My goal – as an education coach
Ultimately, my goal is to help students gain confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and discover that math can be both understandable and empowering.
So, it’s more than proficiency in math, it’s education coaching that builds learning styles, guides test taking strategies, and strengthens analytical and problem-solving skills.
